Why this kit matters

The F-35A Lightning II is the conventional take-off and landing variant of the Joint Strike Fighter programme led by Lockheed Martin. Designed as a fifth generation multirole combat aircraft, it combines stealth shaping, advanced sensors and networked data systems to carry out air superiority and strike missions. The F-35A serves with air forces around the world.

In Australian service, the F-35A replaced the F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet, marking a major step forward in capability for the Royal Australian Air Force. The so-called Beast Mode configuration allows the aircraft to carry a larger external weapons load when stealth is not the primary requirement. This 1/48 scale model kit captures that powerful combat stance, making it a standout centrepiece in any modern military aircraft collection.
