Beschreibung
A CNC-Machined Aluminum 45 Adapter That Will Not Snap or Vanish
The Pro-Ject Adapt it is a 45 RPM adapter for 7-inch singles, sold each, machined from non-magnetic aluminum. It drops over the spindle and centers a single properly. Pro-Ject states it fits all brands and types of turntable.
Every 7-inch single has a hole too large for a turntable spindle, and the plastic spider that came with the record forty years ago is long gone. What replaces it decides whether the single runs true or wobbles for two and a half minutes.
Machined Aluminum, Non-Magnetic
Fit and Materials
The adapter is CNC-machined from non-magnetic aluminum. Non-magnetic matters more here than it sounds: the adapter sits at the center of the platter, a few inches from a cartridge that generates its signal in a magnetic field.
Pro-Ject makes the point that unlike a cheap plastic insert, this one is unbreakable and difficult to lose. Both are real: plastic spiders crack at the arms, and anything small and light enough to sit in a 7-inch hole disappears within a year.
It fits all brands and types of turntable, since a 7-inch hole and a turntable spindle are both standard dimensions. It centers the record precisely, which a loose or worn plastic insert does not.
Who Is the Adapt it Best For?
- You play 7-inch singles — the one accessory that makes them practical rather than fiddly
- You have lost the plastic one — everyone has, and this one is harder to misplace
- Your singles run off-center — a worn plastic insert lets the record sit slightly off, and you hear it as wow
- You want non-magnetic — machined aluminum, sitting a few inches from the cartridge
- You clean 7-inch records on a machine — a cleaning machine needs its own threaded adapter; see record cleaning accessories
How Do You Use It?
Drop the adapter over the spindle, then set the single down over it. Check the record sits flat and turns without visible wobble before lowering the stylus. Lift the record off first, then the adapter — pulling both together is how adapters end up on the floor.
Pairs Well With
What most owners of this part shop next.
- Cartridge alignment tools — anything that touches the arm means re-checking geometry
- Stylus force gauges — and re-setting tracking force afterwards
- Record brushes — a dry sweep before every side
- Turntable accessories — the rest of what a deck needs around it
Frequently Asked Questions
How many do I need?
One is enough for one turntable, since you fit it per record. A second is worth having only if you run two decks.
Will it fit my turntable?
Pro-Ject states it fits all brands and types of turntable. Both the 7-inch record hole and the turntable spindle are standard dimensions.
Why aluminum rather than plastic?
It will not crack, it is heavy enough not to get lost, and it is non-magnetic — which matters on a platter a few inches from a phono cartridge.
