Angel Is the Solid-Silver Top of AudioQuest's Bridges & Falls Series
AudioQuest's Angel is the most refined cable in the Bridges & Falls series and the only one made of solid silver. It carries both channels in one jacket and runs the silver inside FEP air tubes. It adds the 72-volt Dielectric-Bias System, and the plugs are silver over pure Red Copper.
Solid Perfect-Surface Silver Conductors
The wires are solid Perfect-Surface Silver, which AudioQuest calls PSS. Silver conducts better than copper. AudioQuest says the smooth skin cuts distortion from grain boundaries and helps the cable drain radio noise evenly. Solid wire also removes strand interaction.
FEP Air-Tubes and the Dielectric-Bias System
The positive wire runs inside an FEP Air-Tube, so the metal barely touches its insulation. AudioQuest gives the negative leg a lossy insulation on purpose, saying the two do different jobs. The DBS pack holds a steady 72 volts across the insulation so it behaves the same at every level. An RF Trap keeps noise out.
Around the cable is a three-layer shield with a carbon layer. AudioQuest calls it Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation. An ordinary shield drains radio noise into the ground, and AudioQuest says that dirties the reference the signal is measured against. The carbon layers soak up the noise first.
The Direct-Silver Plated Red Copper Plug, Explained
Angel ends in a Direct-Silver Plated plug. The body is pure Red Copper, AudioQuest's purest grade. The silver goes straight onto the copper with no nickel underneath, and AudioQuest says nickel causes distortion. The plug is cold welded to the wire. There is no solder in the path.
The layout is AudioQuest's Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry, built for RCA use. The ground and the shield are kept apart. The ground path gets a lower impedance than the signal path, which AudioQuest says makes for a richer, quieter sound.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Alexander Aschenbrunner reviewed the RCA version for Germany's FIDELITY in September 2024 and heard a cable that was "extremely quiet" and praised its "completely uninterrupted reproduction of all frequency ranges."
He called the sound "remarkably clean, precise" and wrote that "voices are reproduced extremely authentically." Only the music played, he found, with the speakers seeming to vanish.
Who Is This Interconnect Best For?
- You want solid silver — Angel is the only solid-silver cable in the series, so the metal matches AudioQuest's flagships
- You listen for quiet and precision — FIDELITY heard an extremely quiet, precise cable, so the stage reaches back
- Space behind the rack is tight — one slim cable carries both channels, so it bends where a pair will not
- You want silver from wire to contact — solid silver meets Direct-Silver plugs over Red Copper, so the metal never changes at the end
- Your left and right jacks sit far apart — both channels share one jacket here. For mono amps or a wide rack, call us and we will suggest a two-cable option
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run Angel from a line-level output, a DAC, streamer, CD player or phono stage, to a line-level input on your amplifier or preamp. Keep left to left and right to right. Push each plug straight on until it seats. Pull it off by the barrel, never by the cable. Leave the DBS pack attached; it needs no switch.
Then listen. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
Pairs Well With
An interconnect is one link in the chain. It usually joins these categories.
- Integrated Amplifiers — the usual input end
- Digital-to-Analog Converters — DAC output to amplifier
- Phono Preamplifiers — phono stage to line input
- Speaker Cables — the last link to the speakers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the DBS pack on the cable?
AudioQuest's 72-volt Dielectric-Bias System. A small battery pack holds a steady voltage across the insulation. AudioQuest says this makes the insulation behave the same at every level. An RF Trap keeps the pack from feeding radio noise into the wire.
What is Direct-Silver plating?
Silver plated straight onto the copper plug body. There is no nickel layer underneath. AudioQuest says nickel causes distortion, so it leaves it out.
Is this one cable or two?
One. AudioQuest's Bridges & Falls cables carry both channels inside a single jacket. There are two plugs at each end and one lead to route behind the rack.
Why silver wires?
Silver conducts better than copper. AudioQuest says its solid Perfect-Surface Silver cuts distortion from grain boundaries and drains radio noise evenly across the band.
What warranty does AudioQuest give?
A limited lifetime warranty to the original owner, for cables bought from an authorized US dealer. AudioQuest will repair or replace a defective cable that has not been abused. Keep your proof of purchase.
